Glass Laminating
GLASS LAMINATION is the hot fusion of two or more sheets of glass of different thicknesses by inserting an elastic film such as EVA, PVB or Sentry between them. The final product thus obtained is called laminated or laminated glass, with various uses due to its increased safety properties, together with the ability to meet current architectural requirements.
The FOLIA used can be:
- Transparent
- Mată
- Colorful
Our machines
Since 2021 Transparent Design owns a state-of-the-art PUJOL laminating furnace, allowing the lamination of glass sheets up to 6000×3200 mm with EVA film.
A new fully automatic PVB film laminating line was installed in April 2024. This machine can also be laminated using Sentry foil. We are KURARAY certified for the execution of Sentry foil-laminated products, recognized for their increased strength.
Thus, the rolling capacity of our factory reaches approx. 600 square meters/ day.
We are currently installing our 2nd autoclave, for windows with max. 9000x3210mm.
Benefits of our laminated glass
Laminated glass is also the basis for bullet-proof or blast-resistant glazing, thanks to its safety properties and high durability.

Safety and strength of laminated glass
Laminated glass is used to make glass floors, canopies, steps and balustrades because of its safety properties: when broken, the glass fragments remain bonded through the foil on the inside, eliminating the risk of injury to people.
Another important aspect in everyday life is protection against vandalism and burglary in public and residential premises. In the event of an impact, windows, glazing or glass walls with laminated glazing stay in place and can be a solution if the right laminated glass is chosen. The thickness and structure of the burglar-proof glass is determined by the degree of security required by the standards in force.
Laminated glass is also the basis for bullet-proof or blast-resistant glazing.
Number and thickness of glass sheets
The number and thickness of the glass sheets, as well as the number of laminating foils (EVA, PVB or Sentry) sandwiched between them, are determined according to the size of the laminated glass, its usefulness and impact resistance or the weight it has to support. The degree of security increases with the number of sheets used. Furthermore, the glass can be secured before lamination if mechanical fasteners (holes, cut-outs) are used, thus increasing the strength of the finished laminated glass.
In addition to its strength and safety properties, laminated glass with foil also meets today’s architectural and design requirements. Thus, glass of various thicknesses can be laminated or mass tinted; various fabrics, special prints, colored foils can be inserted between the glass to create multiple effects. Two sheets of colored glass (enameled in any RAL color) can be laminated with paint on the inside to have color and opacity on both sides, while preserving the brilliance of the glass on the outside. Doors, glass walls, balustrades, shower enclosures can be made in this way.
Transparent Design offers you laminated glass with frosted film on the inside instead of mechanically sandblasted glass, because it is much easier to maintain thanks to the elimination of the risk of staining over time.
