Fire-resistant glass

Transparent Design became in 2020 an AGC authorized distributor of PYROBEL(ITE) fire-resistant glass. Our company has the necessary technology for the processing of fireproof glass, being the only processor on the Romanian market, and therefore, we can offer the best execution and delivery terms.

In addition, from 2025 we are the agreed processor for the German manufacturer Schott, for the heat treatment and pretreatment of PYRAN® S fire-resistant glass.

Heat-resistant glass, also called fire-resistant glass or fire-resistant glass, is a special type of laminated, multi-layered glass that contains one or more ‘intumescent’ films. This is to prevent the spread of smoke, flames and gas emissions in the event of fire.

Heat resistant glass classification

Depending on their performance, heat-resistant glass is classified into 3 categories: E, EW and EI, the degree of resistance being given by the time (in minutes) for which protection is provided:

In the event of fire, the intumescent film inside the multi-layered glass transforms, when the temperature reaches around 100 degrees C, into a rigid opaque protective ‘shield’ that prevents the flames from penetrating and can reduce or block the transmission of heat.

PYROBELITE glass

PYROBELITE is the thinnest laminated glass with special foil on the inside capable of providing minimum fire protection for up to 60 min. PYROBELITE meets the criteria of the safety classes EW30, EW60 and EI20, depending on the number of glass sheets and the number of inner sheets.

Use

With a thickness between 7.9-12.3 mm, PYROBELITE is most often used at fire-resistant glass partitions and doors. The iron used should, likewise, be a special one, with a degree of protection against fire.

In the event of a fire, the inner foil turns into an opaque protective rigid ‘shield’ that prevents flame burning, and can reduce heat transmission. PYROBELITE ensures protection in both directions.

PYROBEL glass

PYROBEL is a laminated glass with several intumescent inner films with a high degree of protection, depending on structure and thickness. It provides protection against toxic emissions and blocks heat transfer between 30 and 120 minutes (EI 30 – EI 120).

Use

With a thickness between 17.3 -53 mm, PYROBEL can be used in various interior as well as exterior applications: partitions and doors, glass facades, insulating glass (thermopane).

PYROBEL HORIZONTAL can also be used for glass floors or ceilings, providing protection according to safety class EI for 30, 45 and 60 minutes respectively.

PYROBEL VISION LINE is the perfect solution for FULL GLASS glazed partitions (without vertical mullions), combining the perfect transparency of glass with maximum fire protection. VISION LINE allows the use of several PYROBEL panels (max. height approx. 2800 mm) interconnected with a special transparent silicone, thus obtaining large fire resistant glass walls without vertical profiles. As Pyrobel is a laminated glass, VISION LINE also has high acoustic properties.
